Naracoorte South Primary School promotes the value of physical activity in students’ lives. It gives students the opportunities to learn about and practice ways of working with others and adopt and maintain a healthy, productive and active life.
Our school involves students learning through weekly participation in varied Physical Education experiences. Students develop their coordination and motor skills through a range of games and activities. Students are also taught the value of sportsmanship, fair play and the benefits of ‘being active’ through sports.
The school boasts some impressive facilities including a state of the art Gymnasium with air conditioning, gas heating and P.A system. The gymnasium has basketball, volleyball, badminton, indoor hockey/soccer and netball courts available. The extensive grounds allow for ample play opportunities and include a cricket pitch and two oval spaces. We have cricket net facilities to cater for our school cricket side.
NSPS has weekly involvement in Saturday morning school sports. These sports include cricket, football and netball and run throughout the school year. Our school participates with surrounding schools in the district and has had long term success in all sports.
Sports Day is conducted annually and involves the entire school in athletic events such as running, discus, shot put, high jump and long jump. Students are trained in each discipline throughout the first term in preparation for the school Sports Day.
Out of Class Activities
Students are encouraged to participate in a wide range of out of class Physical Education activities including cross country running, 6 a-side girls cricket, staff Vs students games, Naracoorte Table Tennis Club, Be Active Creek Walks, Jump Rope for Heart, Naracoorte Squash Centre visits, Naracoorte Health and Fitness Centre, Matho On-Court Basketball and lunchtime play.
We have a great affiliation with a variety of sporting organisations and conduct regular coaching clinics. Regular visitors include Glenelg Football Club, SACA (Milo) Cricket, Netball S.A, Squash S.A, Tri Skills Gymnastics and Hot Shots Tennis amongst others.
